The general coordinator of Politics and Government, Arturo Zaldívar, stated that many of the criticisms directed at the recent modifications to the Amparo Law come from sectors with particular interests or from people linked to the former political regime of the “PRIAN”, according to a report from the Quadratín México agency.
During his speech at the morning presidential conference, the former Minister of the Court assured that a large part of those who oppose the reform do so because they represent taxpayers with large tax debts, or because they are part of a “group of opinion leaders aligned with the old system.”
He added that many of them do not even know the mechanism of protection in depth, but they discredit it without solid arguments.
In his defense of the reform, Zaldívar also pointed out that judges and magistrates have expressed themselves against it because the changes affect their interests within the Judiciary. According to the coordinator, these people have intentionally spread false information.

Zaldívar stressed that the amparo trial continues to be a fundamental tool for the protection of rights in Mexico, but highlighted the need to close the door to its improper use.
