The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, insisted on Monday in Austria that his country wants to “end war” but that he will not accept the “ultimatums” that Russia has raised until now in the negotiations, before traveling to the G7 summit in Canada, where he plans to meet with Donald Trump.

“We want to put an end to war, but not with Ultimatums and not at the price of Ukraine’s independence,” Zelenski said in a joint press conference in Vienna with his Austrian counterpart, Alexander Van Der Bellen, in which he also referred to the issues he intends to address with the US president.

On the one hand, the Ukrainian President will ask Trump again to approve new more forceful sanctions against Russia, since, in his opinion, they are the only way to force the Kremlin to declare the high the fire of at least a month that kyiv, Washington and European allies ask for some peace negotiations.

Zelenski also pointed out that he will try to convince Trump to authorize the sale of the weapons package that Ukraine wishes to acquire to the United States, after, with the arrival of the current president, we have interrupted the sending of weapons as a donation to kyiv.

The Ukrainian President thanked the help provided by Austria and requested the mediation of this country for the repatriation of thousands of “kidnapped” Ukrainian children by Russia.

The Austrian president indicated, on the other hand, that the military neutrality of his country does not mean political indifference, condemned Russia’s aggression to Ukraine and expressed support from his country to kyiv.

“The daily images of horror force us to continue with the support of Ukraine,” said Van Der Bellen, who appealed “once again to the Kremlin rulers: they stop this war.”

Austria does not deliver military aid to Ukraine for the neutrality of the country, anchored in the Constitution, but Van der Bellen recalled that Vienna has supported all the sanctions of the European Union against Russia for the invasion and clearly supports the assaulted.

The Austrian president stressed that “the Ukrainians do not want to be Russian subjects” and that they defend freedom, the rule of law and democracy against violence and oppression represented by Moscow.

The Foreign Minister, Beata Meinl-Reisinger, signed with her Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, a declaration of intentions and a joint statement to reinforce cooperation, especially in the field of reconstruction and justice.

Austria promised to support war crimes investigations, EU civil missions, already demining already facilitating psychosocial and educational assistance to repatriated minors.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Austria has provided about 327 million euros in humanitarian and financial aid to Ukraine, in addition to guarantees worth 500 million euros for reconstruction.

Zelenski makes a brief scale in Austria on the way to Canada to participate as a guest at the summit of the group of the seven most developed countries (G7).

The visit to Austria has been criticized by the Opposition Opposition FPö, the major of Parliament and considered close to Moscow.
