A total of 38 men who identified themselves as alleged members of the controversial religious congregation The light of the world were arrested in a clandestine field of training in paramilitary tactics, in Michoacán.
The State Public Security Secretariat reported that the 38 men were arrested Tuesday afternoon in an area of greenhouses, in the municipality of Vista Hermosa, adjacent to Jalisco.
SSP agents surprised the detainees when they allegedly performed tactical training, similar to that performed by the Mexico armed forces, with a nine millimeter caliber gun, as well as 19 replicas of guns and assault rifles, knives, numbers, tactical clothing, ballistic helmets, computer and radiocommunication equipment, as well as a “box of simulation box of simulation of simulation of simulation homemade bomb. ”
One of the detainees said to be a citizen of the United States, while the rest claimed to be originally from Michoacán, Jalisco, Nayarit, State of Mexico and Guerrero.
The 38 men were transferred to the facilities of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) in the city of Morelia, where the religious congregation with this training field is investigated.
According to their first statements, the presumably detainees were recruited to be part of what they called a “secret guard” of world’s light, allegedly in charge of giving security to temples and religious leaders.

The FGR also investigates whether there is a relationship of the detainees with the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG), one of the most dangerous criminal organizations in Mexico that has its operations center in the limits of Jalisco and Michoacán, which has stood out for having cotarious training fields in the region.
The world’s light has more than one million members, although one of its main leaders in Mexico, Naasón Joaquín García, faces a 17 -year prison sentence in the United States, for the crime of sexual abuse of minors.
Naasón Joaquín, on Tuesday was also declared “non -guilty” of new positions of conspiracy of organized crime, sex trafficking and child exploitation, which imputes a district prosecution in New York.
The religious leader was arrested on June 3, 2019 at the Los Angeles airport, California, under people’s trafficking charges, child pornography and forced rape of a minor, which he would have committed when he directed the world’s light in Mexico, between 2015 and 2018.
Several followers of the world’s light competed in the recent judicial election of Mexico, on September 1, managing to become judges at least two women related to this religious group.
