China’s state planner said Tuesday that he met with national private companies, including Trina Solar, the mobile transport company Didi and Gertek, to listen to suggestions on how to face additional tariffs in the United States.

The meeting, which took place in Beijing, attended Zheng Shanjie, president of the National Development and Reform Commission of China, according to the state planner in a statement.

China promised not to yield to the United States pressure after Trump threatened Wednesday with increasing tariffs on US imports from the second world economy up to more than 100%.

This was in response to Beijing’s decision to match the “reciprocal” tariffs that Trump initially revealed last week.

China will seek clear actions for the development of the private sector

During the meeting, companies gave opinions and suggestions on the stabilization of employment in China and how to respond to external risks and challenges, the commission said.

“The national development environment is stable and companies are confident in overcoming difficulties,” he said.

Zheng said that “external risks and challenges, such as the imposition of tariffs by the United States, we must unify our thoughts and actions with decision -making. The commission will actively help private companies to resolve difficulties and promote healthy and high quality development of the China private sector economy,” he said.
