With filming already complete, Reacher is confirmed to be heading back to Prime Video in no time.
The Alan Ritchson action series is based on the bestselling franchise created by author Lee Child. After two divisive Jack Reacher movies led by Tom Cruise, the Smallville star was cast to lead a more faithful version of the beloved action franchise. Since its premiere, Reacher has consistently been a top performer for Prime Video. Every season adapts a different book.
Reacher season 4’s story will be based on “Gone Tomorrow,” the thirteenth book in the Lee Child franchise. Currently, there are thirty novels in the Jack Reacher series, giving the show plenty of room to go on for as long as Ritchson wants to do it. Ever since Reacher season 4 wrapped filming in November 2025, fans have been waiting to hear when the Prime Video series will return.
Now, speaking with Collider for his new movie War Machine, Alan Ritchson confirmed that Reacher season 4 will premiere in 2026. According to the actor, fans can expect the best season of Reacher to date when the Prime Video action series returns with a new batch of episodes. Although Ritchson did not reveal a specific release date, the update is both surprising and exciting. Check out the full quote below:
“Well, we finished shooting season 4 of Reacher. It’s by far the best season we’ve had yet, so it’s coming. It’ll be out this year.”
Reacher season 4 releasing in 2026 is quite surprising. While season 3 was released one year and one month after season 2, and Reacher season 3 ended on March 27, 2025, Reacher‘s first spinoff was expected to push around the main show’s schedule. The reason for that is simple, as not only does Alan Ritchson play Reacher in Neagley, but that show wrapped filming before Reacher season 4.
Filming on Neagley season 1 wrapped on June 7, 2025, five months before Reacher season 4 production ended. As such, Ritchson’s new update on the action series’ release window suggests that either the spinoff will be pushed to 2027 despite being finished earlier, or Reacher fans are about to see Ritchson as the action hero twice this year.
The Prime Video thriller series is a hit with viewers and critics alike. On Rotten Tomatoes, Reacher holds a near-perfect 96% critics’ score, with a lower, but still solid 80% audience score. Critics have loved every season of the action thriller thus far, staring strong with season 1’s 92% before moving up to a sky-high 98% for seasons 2 and 3.
In ScreenRant’s Reacher season 3 review, Greg MacArthur rated the show an 8 out of 10, saying, “I’m convinced Reacher going undercover is the best version of the action hero.” Reacher season 4’s new update comes at the perfect time, as Ritchson’s sci-fi war film, War Machine, is currently Netflix’s most-watched movie worldwide. Reacher season 4’s exact release date will be revealed on another day.
