So far, official reports reported 64 people dead and 65 missing, after the torrential rains that hit central Mexico from October 6 to 9 and affected 111 municipalities.

The heavy rainfall, caused by hurricanes Raymond and Priscilla, in the nation’s Pacific, in confluence with several systems in the Gulf of Mexico, left more than 1,800 millimeters (mm) of rain in Veracruz, Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí.

That is, in just four days an amount comparable to half of the annual average rainfall in those regions was recorded.
