SANTIAGO DE QUERÉTARO, Querétaro.— Héctor Slim Seade, general director of Telefonos de México (Telmex), stated that the company is building a data center in the northwest of the country to meet the demand for digital evolution and information technologies in industries and sectors.

“By 2026 we are going to put another data center into operation in the northwest of Mexico, which reinforces our data network at the level and prepares all industries and sectors for digital evolution and information technologies,” the businessman revealed during the ICREA level VI certification delivery to the Triara data center, a subsidiary of Telmex.

Triara has a data center in Mexico City, Monterrey, Querétaro and Cancún.

The business representative pointed out that in 2000 they acquired a building, which was an ICA iron factory to build the Telmex headquarters in the center. About six years later, the data center in Querétaro was inaugurated.

He added that one of the advantages of its Querétaro data center is that it is located in the coronary artery of the nervous system, since “today connectivity is the nervous system of companies.”

Telmex has 650 thousand kilometers of fiber optics in Mexico, as well as submarine cables to meet the high demand for broadband and internet by companies and the rest of its clients.

In September, the company owned by Carlos Slim Helú inaugurated a 383-kilometer submarine cable, which connects Mazatlán with San José del Cabo. The new cable is essential for the connectivity of the Baja California Peninsula and northwest Mexico, said Slim Seade.

The new fiber optic line joins another submarine cable, which runs from Guaymas to Santa Rosalía, a Magical Town located in Baja California Sur, he stated. América Móvil has submarine cables in the Pacific and the Atlantic.

“The submarine cables ensure that throughout the region we ensure telecommunications for the coming years with all the increase in data that can be had from our clients in America,” said the general director of Telmex.

The manager recalled that they have allies to offer their mobile phone, internet, broadband, cybersecurity and data center services: “Although they have not given us triple play, it doesn’t matter because we have good alliances with streaming companies.”

The ICREA VI certification, granted by the International Computer Room Experts Association, guarantees that Telmex data centers can offer services for companies and agencies that operate with “critical missions”, which are provided with infrastructure, systems and processes that cannot fail or have their operations suspended.
